Our lovely neighbours over at Lux Beauty Boutique recently celebrated their birthday! We all absolutely love to go there for all of our beauty needs as the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable, so we wanted to share with you all of the amazing services they offer for the start of wedding season! We sat down with the ladies to learn all about the latest trends, and their need to know tips and tricks for our 2019 brides.
We know the bridal colour palette changes every season, are there any colour trends for makeup and beauty that you've seen for 2019?
"Nothing as crazy as we see in the fashion world, many brides like to keep it classic and true to themselves. Neutral tones, subtle glow and light pink lip colours still take center stage, with the occasional bold red lip for a touch of drama. That said, people are becoming more adventurous with their look and it's becoming more common for brides to play with new colours, like bright pinks on the lips and blues and greens in a smokey eye look. "
Any must have products for the bride? For the guests? (i.e. lasts all day, cry proof etc. )
"Indie Lee Squalane Oil is a must have for the wedding day for everyone in the bridal party. It's super light weight and hydrating. To keep makeup lasting all day, the Skindinavia's Makeup Setting Spray is sure to create a long-lasting barrier against the day, but it's always a good idea to have lipstick and powder on hand for touch ups. And to prevent mascara streaks if things get a little teary? Don't wear mascara! A natural looking set of false lashes give the drama you are looking for without the smudging. We love the Mink Lashes from Creme de la Creme. "
Any tips on a bride's skin care routine the night before the wedding?
"Do a gentle exfoliation with a physical exfoliant, like a scrub (this is no time for crazy peels, do those at least a few weeks ahead of time) and a face oil/hydration serum. A lightweight hydration mask in the morning will also keep your skin happy and help your makeup apply smoothly and last all day."
"What services do you offer in your Beauty Lounge? "
Our Beauty Lounge is the perfect place to celebrate! Situated on our lower level, the beauty lounge offers privacy and a space with the comforts of home (with none of the clean up). For bachelorette parties we offer makeup application parties, or events in a lesson format and work with you to make it a night you'll always remember. Also, our bridal makeup application package includes complimentary Prosecco and private use our our lower level for a party of up to four, including the bride. If you have a larger party, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. This package also includes a complementary make up trial for the bride, to ensure she absolutely loves her look for the big day.
Do you have any gift suggestions for the bride, or for the bride to give to her bridal party?
"For gifts to your bridesmaids, sheet masks, lashes, hairspray, dry shampoo and pretty hair clips are always crowd favourites. I think the best practical gift is the bridal "emergency kit", a nice makeup bag with things like hairspray, bobby pins, a stain remover pen, lip balm, invisibobble, tweezers, compact mirror, bandaids, tampons etc. Anything you think you'd need the day of!
For the bride, a nice candle, wine and bath salts are a nice option- anything to help her unwind after the big day! For a couples gift, we also like throwing in movie tickets and matching journals for the bride and groom to write their memories of each other in! "
