Brittany had such a special intimate wedding, and we're so happy that we were able to find her a gown that not only was she comfortable in, but suited her whole aesthetic- and most importantly made her groom cry! Here's her beautiful story:
"Jake and Brittany met at MacEwan University through their mutual pal on one unassuming day in 2010. In April 2017, after many years of chance run-ins and copious amounts of nauseating flirtation, Jake and Brittany crossed paths once again and made it a thing. Thank you, Bumble! It was clear within the first few dates that their ongoing flirtation, and their inability to lose sight of one another, was truly something special. In November 2018, Jake asked Brittany if they could spend their lives together while on a geo-cashing adventure in Canmore; it was the easiest "yes" ever. That afternoon, Brit proceeded to happy cry her way through every flick at the Banff Film Festival. Jake ensured they celebrated their engagement after the films by organizing a violinist, abundant food, some champagne and more happy crying at the Three Ravens restaurant.
Dress Shopping:
I originally planned to get married in a mauve dress (the same colour my late grandmother was married in) and to keep things very casual and simple. Jake's one request for our wedding was for me to walk down the aisle in a white dress; a pretty sweet wish that was really hard to say no to. Our compromise was the same simple wedding that I wanted, but with a little more tradition in the ceremony. I booked an appointment at Novelle because I've been along to watch a few girlfriends try on dresses there and the experience was amazing. I went in with no idea in mind of what I wanted, because I truly never envisioned wearing a traditional dress. The woman who guided my mom, bridesmaids and I through our appointment was so sweet and patient with my lack of direction. My only guidance was that I tend to choose simple, timeless clothes and didn't want something difficult or uncomfortable to get around in. Each of my bridesmaids selected dresses they liked, and the store associate also recommended a few. Her choice was the second dress I tried on, and that was the moment I knew I would love wearing a wedding dress. It was the Sienna by Made With Love.
In picking out this dress, our associate from Novelle had clearly considered what she could gather about me, given we had just met: it was sleek, timeless, light, elegant and simple but with the perfect amount of detail. I ordered the dress right then and it came in with plenty of time to spare. I am so grateful for everyone on the Novelle team who ensured my experience was special. They are so professional and so warm, making it easy to trust them with the details of ordering and communicate with care at every point in the process. Jake was in tears the moment he saw me as a bride. I am so grateful that Novelle picked out the dress- it was exactly what I wanted and it was the perfect dress to be to celebrate our love and marriage.
Our ceremony was in his parents' backyard overlooking the river valley with 20 people as witness, plus us and our wedding party, in the late afternoon of September 28th. We hired a chef to use their pizza oven and celebrated with wood fired pizza, Prosecco, stracciatella gelato from Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut, and a pretty dope Spotify playlist."
