Chelsea & Tyler

Novelle Bride Chelsea was one of our first brides to find her dream gown from the comfort of her own home through messages and video calls with one of our consultants! We are so happy she found her dream dress and can't wait to share her story of marrying her best friend in a very intimate ceremony.

"Tyler and I met while working in the same town. He is an RCMP officer and myself a paramedic so we often found ourselves at the same scenes and working together. One night I watching him kick open a door so that we could gain access to a patient and I was head over heels after that! After almost a year of knowing one another, I was finishing up paperwork after a call and he came over to the ambulance to chat with me. I thought for sure this was it, he was finally going to ask for my number. To my disappointment he did not, and I had to make the first move! But it turns out he was also interested in me and after a few dates- it was official!

In October of 2018, we were surprised to find out that I was pregnant with our son Jackson. The following October we travelled to Newfoundland to visit Tyler's family and introduce our son to all of our family and friends there. Tyler planned a trip to Dildo, Newfoundland for the weekend with some friends to visit the local brewery. Little did I know that his plan was to propose! He had it all set up for our friends and family to be there and there was a beautiful dock overlooking the bay and the ocean. We walked onto the dock for "family photos" and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked that I didn't even say yes! I asked him if this was for real and I took the box out of his hands and put the ring on. He kissed me on the forehead and left me standing on the dock, shocked at what just happened!

Due to COVID-19 we decided to cancel our original wedding and elope. This meant that I needed to find a dress quickly and I though I knew exactly what I was looking for. I spoke with Jessica and she was amazing. I made my purchase online without even trying the dress on and it just felt right, like it was my dress! The dress was mailed in a couple of days time. I put it on and I was so underwhelmed- it didn't feel like MY dress and needless to say it didn't receive a standing ovation from those closest to me. I cried feeling like I had made a mistake. I messaged Jess immediately with how I felt, sent photos and they allowed me to return the dress for a different one. With Jessica's guidance and expertise, I found the PERFECT gown for my elopement. The second dress arrived and I slipped into the gown and it fit like a glove- very little alterations were needed. I had alterations completed at Debbie's Fashion Design as recommend by Jessica and they were fairly priced and had my alterations done quickly. I needed a couple of tweaks on my final alterations and she completed them while I was there to ensure I left happy!

Our wedding was rescheduled for September 15, 2020, which was my late grandmother's birthday. I chose this day to feel closer to her. We decided that we wanted to share an adventure and an experience with our parents and took them on a helicopter elopement in the Canadian Rockies. I also asked one of our closest friends to officiate the ceremony. The sacrifice of not being able to share our day with all of our friends and family was only overwhelmed by the closeness and intimacy that our elopement provided, witnessed by our parents. So many changes occurred (almost everything we had intended for the day) and when we arrived at the helipad our elopement location and subsequently our dinner plans had to change due to poor weather (the chance you take with a helicopter elopement in the mountains). Regardless of the hurdles, I married my best friend this day and we became husband and wife, and the experience was incredible. Our back up location turned out to be even more beautiful than I anticipated. The haze created by the smoke from the wildfires offered a mystic feel to our photos, the overcast was perfect so I wasn't squinting in photos and moving our dinner reception indoors allowed for a dance floor which we did not plan to have. It was PERFECT.
