Dominic & Mark

04/01/19

Four is definitely Dominic's lucky number! Four days after getting engaged she found her dream dress, and then just four months later she was walking down the aisle, ready to say I do to the love of her life. Here's her story of coffee dates and romance.

"Mark and I first noticed each other at a conference in June, 2017. We had a few conversations but did not go out on any dates at that time. In October of the same year, we were both volunteering at an event in the same church where we later got married, and that is when the sparks started to fly. One week later Mark asked me out on a date to go for coffee (which happens to be one of my favourite things to do) and our relationship grew from there. It did not take me long to fall in love with Mark and to realize that I wanted to spend my life by his side.

Mark proposed on what I thought was a normal Friday date night in Hawrelak park by the river in July. I was beyond excited to start my life with Mark and knew that we were going to have a tight timeline for the wedding. The first thing on my list was to go dress shopping. There was no question in my mind that I wanted to go see the dresses at Novelle, so my Maid of Honour promptly booked an appointment for the following Tuesday. Going into the store I was worried that I would not have enough time to order one of the beautiful dresses, seeing as our engagement was only four months long, but right away Jessica put my mind at ease and assured me we would find something. And of course she was right! I tried on many dresses that night and quickly fell for my beautiful full lace gown that Jessica had picked out. Standing on the pedestal in front of the mirror in the boutique with the dress and my cathedral veil, I knew without a doubt that I had found my dream dress. It felt crazy but great that only four days after I got engaged I was buying my dream dress, after only only having gone to one store. But I was sure.

I had never dreamt of having a winter wedding but it was everything I wanted and more. Mark and I were married at McKernan Baptist Church surrounded by our friends and family, and celebrated at the Ellerslie Rugby Club. We made sure to make a pit stop at ACE coffee roasters, our favourite coffee shop, before heading to the Foundry room for our magical pictures. I wouldn't have changed a thing about our wedding day, it was truly a dream come true. I often sit on the couch looking at our wedding pictures reliving our special day, staring at our beautiful flowers, my dream dress, and of course my dreamy husband. Mark and I now get to go on coffee dates as husband and wife, and there is no one else in this world I would rather walk in this lift with."
