Novelle Bride Elise truly became the glittering Winter ice queen she dreamed of when she married Danny this February at the Old Timers Cabin, Edmonton. She braved -20 weather to get some incredibly beautiful photos that truly capture her stunning wedding day that we couldn’t wait to share with you!
Elise was also kind enough to share her dress shopping experience with us and the very cute story of how her and her now husband met.
As much as Danny and I like to say we "RE MET" in 2013, our story goes back much further. We attended the same Elementary, Middle, Junior and High school in Peace River- small town Northern Alberta. Though sharing many of the same friends, riding 10+ hours on sports bus trips, and attending almost all of the same social functions the two of us were merely acquaintances.
After high school Danny moved to Calgary and the following year I moved to Edmonton, both to pursue post secondary studies. The years passed and it wasn't until January 2013 where the official "first" conversation of interest took place! :) We spent the next year and a half traveling back and forth between Edmonton and Calgary and barely spent a weekend apart. I like to think I had a good gut feeling about Danny because my first trip down to Calgary was to spend the entire week! ...or maybe it was because he was taking me to the mountains? lol! Our trips to Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper quickly turned into our favourites and to this day is our annual vacation.*cue the mush* It's fair to say we fell in love while feeling on top of the world.
We were engaged August 2016 and so began the plans for THE BEST DAY EVER!!! Being the snowy-enthusiasts we are, Danny and I knew that we were going to be planning a winter wedding! Which brings me to every girls’ most crucial decision.....the dress! I was guilty of trying on maybe 60+ dresses and I think.
I lost sleep over envisioning the style I would end up choosing for our big day...I would go from drooling over a slim tight fit silhouette with a dramatic back- to thinking.."what about sleeves?! How do I reeeeallly feel about lace? What flavor cupcake am I going to look like in a full skirted ball gown? ...wait why am I Pinteresting strapless A-line dresses? OIY!" This for me, could have been an on-going struggle had I not walked into Novelle and met Joanna in March last year.
I had been to Novelle to look with my sister years ago, I can still recall our appointment and that I fell in love with the bright windows, crisp elegant decor, and the sparkles, so many sparklesss :) The moment I walked in the door for my appointment, I was greeted with smiles and excitement and it just felt right. I was given flexibility to do a little digging on my own and of course, was assisted by the wonderful and talented consultants. Which goes to show, these ladies know what they are doing!! I had tried on many dresses, had narrowed it down to about two but was still just not feeling 100% ready to commit to either... I just needed a little more WOW factor. Preparing to make another loop around the shop, in walked the most beautiful gown I had seen yet- the Allure 9425- and I was speechless. It is difficult to put into words how beautiful this dress truly is, so here's a picture of what I was looking at- "a tiered tulle ballgown with hints of champagne, deep plunging back, with a Swarovski crystal beaded drop waist bodice and a deep V-neck finished with the most delicate of straps" This dress was everything I could have envisioned and more. We called it fit for an Ice Queen- just call me Elsa ;) It fit exactly what I had envisioned for our theme being: icey blues, white snow, cozy cabin vibes, and all the sparkle that one could handle.
We did spend time outdoors (hello -20) for our first look and photos so, in addition to my dress, I finished the look off with a white fur shawl- and gorgeous white mukluks with blue beadwork that accentuated the ombre colouring of the bridesmaid dresses. I could not have felt more elegant and beautiful. Our wedding was held at the Old Timer Cabin in Edmonton, AB on February 16th. We brought our love of the mountains and cabin coziness to the city and were married in front of a toasty burning fireplace with all our family and friends to celebrate.
