Jessica and Matt have so many special ties to the mountains so it made perfect sense that they chose to spend their big day in Canmore! Here's their story: 

"Matt and I met at my friend's stagette (at Hudson's on Whyte Ave) over 5 years ago. We have mutual friends but had never met before and both had just gotten out of recent relationships, not looking for anything serious. We immediately started spending a lot of time together when we realized we shared so many common interests and we were so perfect for each other. We always say how lucky we are to have found our perfect person. We  both love to bike, ski  and hike, and Matt is obsessed with fishing. We love the mountains and after being together for a year, we bought a vacation home in Canmore to spend our weekends with family and friends in the outdoors. We adopted a puppy, Mia, and spend most of our time in BC or Canmore, skiing and hiking as a little family. 

Matt proposed to me on top of Whistler Mountain two winters ago after we hiked up to have lunch before skiing down. There was another couple behind us who ended up taking some amazing photos for us. I was 2 months pregnant as we started trying a few months earlier and got pregnant right away. I was super surprised as Matt had picked out the ring with the help of my Mom and although we had talked about getting married, it wasn't something we discussed often. We started planning out wedding for the next summer as we were expecting in August. 

We knew we wanted to get married outdoors in Canmore since its the place we first fell in love over 5 years ago. I wanted simple and elegant to be our theme with only people that we were super close with. We had 83 people who attended our ceremony at Quarry Lake and then our reception at the Fairmont Banff Springs. My bridesmaids were all my childhood friends who I have known and been best friends with since we were 15 years old. Our son, Brock (1 year old) attended as our ring bearer and Mia, as our flower girl. 

I started dress shopping three months after having our baby Brock. He came to all the appointments with me and after many, many dresses I went to Novelle with my Mom, Mother-in-law and best friends, and as I was slipping on the dress, I said "This is it!" Although I still had some baby weight to lose, I knew this fitted dress was what I wanted. I had always wanted to pay for my wedding dress myself and choose anything I wanted and that's exactly what I did! My dress was stunning and a total show stopper! The pictures turned out amazing and Matt absolutely loved it! I would do the day all over again just so I could wear the dress!"
