"My husband Matt and I started our journey in the Fall of 2018. Little did we know, we lived two blocks from each other since moving to the same neighbourhood two years earlier! It took modern technology to bring us together but since that day we have never looked back. It was the first time on a first date that I truly never wanted it to end.
Fast forward three years later, through moving in together, experiencing each other's family holidays, and a global pandemic, Matt proposed on a beautiful April day along the shores of Lake Louise. With avalanches cracking in the background and the frozen lake just beginning to thaw, it was the start of the next chapter of our lives and one that we couldn't have been more ready to take.
We both knew that we didn't want a terribly long engagement, however that made dress shopping feel like a daunting task! I had begun shopping with a close friend with the intention of figuring out what shape and style I really wanted to focus on. I knew I had a short window but nothing felt like the right one. My Mom was coming in from out of town in June and I knew that I had to make a decision quickly. Away we went, my Mom, future Mother in Law and myself on this epic journey to find the perfect dress!
Walking into Novelle, I was confident that I would end up with an A line or Ballgown that was simple but elegant. I tried on what felt like every dress in the store but nothing felt "right". Jessica asked if she could bring me something that had sparkle on the top but was a Mikado fabric on the bottom, so it offered the elegant and classic look that I was looking for...the catch was it was a fitted style, so the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted. During the appointment, I really started to trust Jessica, so in that moment I threw away the expectations I had put on myself and trusted her completely. When she brought in the gown, I couldn't believe it. It was everything I had asked for but I wasn't convinced that I could pull it off. I stepped in the gown and it was instant. This was the one. I was fairly indecisive and had a couple of other appointments so Jessica suggested that she book us in for the following afternoon, just in case we wanted to come back to see the dress one more time. Well, the next day, dress after dress, nothing measured up to that beautiful Enzoani gown at Novelle. I walked in that afternoon, put the dress on and walked out of the dressing room. My Mom looked at me and the water works started for everyone. It was the perfect dress for my Winter wedding in the mountains.
We got married on February 5, 2022 at the Malcom Hotel in Canmore, AB. When we picked our date, we had no idea that it would carry so much meaning for us and our families. It turned out that my Great Grandparents were married on the same day 103 years earlier. They were married in 1919, following the devastating Spanish Flu pandemic, Ironically, Matt and I were marred in 2022, as the world was still struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic. To say it was meant to be would have been an understatement. To honour my Great Grandparents, I wore my Great Grandmother's fur coat. It paired perfectly with my gown and was perfect for the outdoor ceremony.
We were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony with our closest family and friends, hosted a beautiful reception with the mountains as our backdrop, and danced the night away. It was truly the perfect day with the most perfect man in the most perfect venue in an absolutely stunning gown!
I couldn't have done it without Jessica and the team at Novelle. Thank you for making all of my wedding gown dreams come true and helping me find the one that made me say "yes to the dress!" "
