"Chris and I met in University through a blind date. My cousin ad been talking for months about setting me up with "this guy" but I refused to meet him. She took it into her own hands and arranged for a dinner date. We exchanged numbers, started talking frequently , and spending a lot of time together. This went on for sometime although neither of us seemed interested in having the "relationship" talk. It wasn't until a Halloween party when a friend asked if he was my boyfriend that we made things official.
We dated for 5 years before getting engaged in 2017. I was totally blindsided! Chris was going to be moving to Calgary for one year in September to complete school. He had always said we would not get engaged until after he was done. our engagement happened while in Banff. We had taken a little getaway during reading week. On one of the afternoons we were walking through town, Chris had decided we should walk down by the Bow River. We stopped on a bride and he suggested we take a photo. I was all prepared to take a selfie but Chris asked somebody else to take the photo. Now all truth be told I might have overindulged in wine the night prior so this entire process had me frustrated. Chris handed my phone over to a lade on the bride and we posed for our picture. At that moment he gown down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket! Thanks to the lovely lady on the bridge we now have photos and a video to keep forever.
I was pretty nervous about going dress shopping. Unlike a lot of brides, I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted. I had heard amazing things about Novelle so this was the first place I booked an appointment. I took my Maid of Honour and Mom to the appointment to keep things small. My consultant was amazing and made a real effort to figure out exactly what I was looking for (not that I was much help). We pulled all types of dresses to try. The very first dress I tried made me feel like a bride! We finished the appointment but I kept coming back to dress number one. I fell in love with the ivory lace, the dramatic back and amazing train. I did not buy the dress that day, I decided to go home and think on it. Think on it I did, and I could not get that dress out of my head. I found myself googling pictures of it, looking at photos of me in it. I knew that was the one! I cancelled all of my appointments at other shops and booked to go back to Novelle for my dream dress! I purchased it that day!
Our wedding day was October 20, 2018. We got married in Canmore, AB, at the stunning Silvertip Golf Course. I loved the rustic feel of the venue. The wood beaming is beautiful and you cannot complain about a wood burning fireplace! The day was perfect in every way. There had been some stress leading up to the big day as the weather had been terrible snowing all through September. By some wedding day miracle, we lucked out with sunny skies and a gorgeous 15 degree day. The entire day flew by so quickly but I will never forget the way Chris looked at me when I took my first step down the aisle. We were so blessed to be surrounded by our friends and family. It is a day I will remember forever!"
