"Mathew and I met through our Moms as they were in the New Moms Group together. Our Moms fell out of touch because life got busy, but then we reunited in Grade 10 and have been together ever since. Mathew proposed to me a few days after I got back from the celebration of my 21st birthday with my sister-in-law in Las Vegas. Mathew knelt beside my bed, woke me up, told me what I meant to him and then he asked! I first replied with "Are you sure?", then excitedly said YES!
My dress shopping experience was amazing. I ended up booking the Couture Consultation, which ended up being an amazing choice. I had Julia as my consultant and she was a dream- so helpful and encouraging! The dress I bought was the second one I tried on but I felt like I needed to try on more because I thought that there was no way I'd find it that fast. When I tried it on a second time, the tears came rolling in. There was not a dry eye in the room and I knew it was the one.
We got married in my Mom's back yard in Sherwood Park, AB. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to have the big wedding that we initially planned so we kept it at 17 people, ourselves included. It was an incredibly intimate wedding. Even our vendors were very close friends and family. I believe I cried the entire day except when we did a fake dress reveal with the best man and my soon to be husband.
The ceremony was slightly chaotic, but it wouldn't have been ours if it hadn't been. From forgetting my bouquet as my beautiful Mom walked me down the aisle, to an escaped cat, to my best friend and one time minister forgetting to let everybody sit after I entered. It was perfectly imperfect and I wouldn't have changed it one bit. I'm incredibly grateful for everyone in our lives that made this day possible. I was never the little girl that dreamt about her wedding but if I had this would've been my dream wedding."
