Shaun & Doré

02/26/20 EVENTS NEWS

Banff, AB

We absolutely love that Novelle Bride Shaun listened to herself and her future Husband, and changed their wedding plans to suit their true vision and love for each other. Here is her lovely story, from planning a big wedding to an elopement:

"Doré was a local Edmontonian and I was from the Greater Vancouver area. I had moved here right after High School to start my own life, which resulted in me joining a truck group ( I know...lame) but ultimately, this is where I met Doré!

I worked in construction at the time so I was oily and looked like a boy to be quite honest....he spent most of the night trying to figure out if I was actually attractive or not. Apparently I was and that's where it all started! Our first date he actually had a broken leg- full leg cast, crutches and everything. We had been together 3 years when he proposed to me on Christmas Eve, in front of his Grandma and during one of his family's most important traditions, which meant the world to him, even more so now since his Grandmother is no longer with us.

Originally we had agreed on a date and a big wedding but as the time grew closer and honesty became a key factor over wedding planning chaos, we had decided a small elopement was what we knew was meant to be. A shore side off Lake Minnewanka in Banff on June 19, 2019 was where we set up to say our vows with only 16 of our closest family and friends to hear. Our two children were able to witness true love without all the glitz and glam. It was intimate. It was beautiful. And we didn't need to worry about anything but each other! "Nothing fancy, just love" was our motto.

Planning my wedding, big or small, Novelle had always been on top of my list for dress shopping! Being a wedding photographer myself, I always heard great things about them and the dresses I had photographed for them were never less than stunning. Once making sure I got in with them, I showed up with my one and only Maid of Honour and my son, of which they accommodated for greatly. I had fully expected to fall in love with "the one" here, so with high hopes and a Pinterest board of ideas they gave me all amazing options for my style and body type. After trying on five dresses I had finally found the one that made me cry and was actually one I had fallen in love with online, but never had thought a store locally would carry it. I will always recommend Novelle to be on the top of everyone's list."
