Sophie & Derek

"Derek and I met online back in 2017, and we have been inseparable since. I was worried about meeting someone online, so I had him pick me up from my friend's place, where they both took pictures of his truck and license plate ! Haha. We both instantly felt a connection and were upfront and open with each other about what we wanted in life. The open communication really helped our relationship blossom into what it is now. 

In September 2018 we welcomed our son into the world. In December 2019, Derek had bought us Colorado Avalanche jerseys and on the back of our son's read "Marry Me". I was freaking out and just kept screaming, "I knew it! I knew it!" I eventually said YES! and we have been on a wild ride since we met. And I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else. 

My dress shopping experience at Novelle was absolutely amazing. There aren't enough good things I can say. Jessica had some amazing dresses pulled for me to try on during my first appointment. There were so many of them that I loved but I kept thinking about this one dress that I saw online by Enzoani. I had mentioned it to her at the beginning of the appointment and she had told me that they didn't have that dress, but could tell that I kept thinking about it. At the end of my appointment she had said she was going to try and work some magic and see if she could get that exact dress sent to Novelle for me to try on.

A few days later she called and said that they were going to loan out their runway dress! I was absolutely ecstatic! The moment I tried on that dress I knew it was THE ONE for me. It was exactly what I pictured wearing on my wedding day. Thank you so much for everything you did for me Jessica!!

Our wedding day was supposed to be this wonderful, family and friend filled day but COVID had other plans. We had decided that we didn't want to postpone so we continued with our plans and downsized it to 10 people in my parent's backyard. Despite all my worries, it was such a romantic and intimate day. We had our son and our parents there with us, and our amazing neighbour let us have a few close friends in their yard so they could witness our commitment to one another.

Due to us not being able to have our Maid of Honour or our Best Man with us, we asked my Mom and Derek's Dad if they would be our witnesses. Seeing them on our wedding day made it so worth it. I highly recommend having your parents being your witness; it was such a special moment. Due to no reception, we got to spend hours with our photographer and videographer and they did not disappoint with the amazing photos and videos. It all worked out how it was supposed to and I wouldn't change a thing about our day."
