Novelle bride Victoria's vision for her dress and wedding day was totally badass and we LOVE it. We asked Victoria to share how her modern yet vintage wedding day went for our latest feature:
"Jamie and I met on a random Thursday night out having drinks with friends. A girlfriend of mine invited me out for a drink and after some convincing I finally agreed to come. Thinking it would be a pretty low-key night, just the two of us girls, I didn't even dress up or wear heels- which is VERY not like me! Little did I know, she had invited some of her guy friends to meet us and Jamie and I first locked eyes on the street outside of Billiard Club on Whyte Ave. We spent the night playing pool, and although I am sure he wanted to trade partners, because I am truly terrible at playing pool, I had caught his eye and heart.
Five years of love later, Jamie totally surprised me by popping the questions during a photoshoot he had planned. I am so thankful to have that exact moment caught on camera where he got down on one knee and I excitedly shoved my hand in his face, exclaiming, "OH MY GOD, YES!!"
Before coming to Novelle, I was so nervous to find THE dress as I had gone to a few other bridal stores and had yet to fall in love with the perfect one. I knew I wanted something unique. Something fitted, elegant, modern and a bit badass! Novelle had dresses that perfectly fit my style and Jessica, my Bridal Consultant, knew exactly what I was envisioning, helped to pull dresses throughout our appointment, and was so sweet and encouraged me to follow my personal style. It all came down to two stunning dresses and I knew Harlie by Made With Love Bridal was the one once I put on the veil, was handed a bouquet and immediately started to cry as I pictured my future husband in front of me.
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and exactly our style! We had our first look in the exact place where we first met outside of Billiard Club, and Fort Edmonton Park's Blatchford Hangar was the perfect place to proclaim our love and dance the night away. We wanted a venue that was a blank slate that we could transform into our modern, industrial idea, and the Hangar had exactly what we were looking for with its striking barn doors and concrete floors. I originally had a hard time conveying my idea of mixing modern and vintage elements, but my wedding dress really helped to pull my vision all together. Jamie full on expected that I'd show up in a black dress, my signature colour, but was very pleasantly surprised with the most gorgeous dress he had ever seen. We were and still are so overwhelmed with the love we felt on our wedding day and cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together!"
